Iris - 9/29/03
Kumba: First off, I know you live in Southern Florida. I also live there and I know it can be a little tough if you don't speak Spanish. Do you speak Spanish and are you Latino?
Iris: No, I don’t speak Spanish at all, and am not Latino. I’m 100% white, but I have Argentinean background. Still, I’ve never had any troubles resulting from not being able to speak Spanish; I guess it’s a bit different down here, since Boca Raton is listed as the one of the top 5 richest cities on the east coast (more educated people perhaps?)
Kumba: I understand from your profile, and I'm led to believe by your extremely long NBA preview topic, that you love basketball. Do you play basketball? If so, what position and how are your stats?
Iris: Yes, I play basketball, shooting guard. I’m not really sure exactly what my stats were, in high school basketball, unless you’re a major recruit, your stats don’t mean a whole lot.
Kumba: I also noticed on your profile that you list your AIM name, which I believe few webmasters do. I find this very helpful, but do you ever get flooded with messages? If so, what is the most you've ever had at one time?
Iris: I dunno, I get flooded occasionally, but usually not unless the site is down. Then I have about the entire site asking me why/what’s going on.
Kumba: Recently in the games/polls section at NE, there was a popular topic about virginity. Are you or are you not a virgin?
Iris: I’m not.
Kumba: At NE, you allow cursing. How do you feel this makes your site different from other sites? Have you ever considered stopping the cursing or maybe just limiting it to the Free Speak Forum?
Iris: I’ve never considered taking away the cursing right. I feel that forums are a place for people to speak their mind, and putting limits on how people speak their mind defeats the purpose of that. The Free Speak forum is more for the outrageous, strictly explicit topics, but the entire site welcomes whatever language you want to speak in. If you’re not mature enough to handle curse words, don’t visit.
Kumba: I've always wondered how you organized Spotlight, Runner-up, "The List," and the various other rankings posted at NE. How is it you do that? Do you write it down on paper or keep it in your head?
Iris: Spotlight rounds I try to keep organized in my head mostly, just by browsing through the inbox. As for The List, the top 50 all-time parkmakers, and the upcoming 100 greatest rides ever created, I use Microsoft Excel to keep those in order, much easier to insert rows here and there, and rearrange everything. The actual List has a little over 350 parks on it.
Kumba: Recently the High Roller contest has started releasing parks and all the results should be in soon. Any ideas for future contests at NE, not necessarily the next one, just future ideas?
Iris: We have our next idea ready, and we love it. You guys are gonna get a little bit of an “inside scoop” here, but I can’t give the whole thing away. I will say that the overall winner of the contest wins $100 this time (guaranteed $100), and that non NE parkmakers will have to earn their spot in the contest. More will come a little later.
Kumba: I have heard a lot of hype about the Los Collabo. What can you tell us about these parks?
Iris: These parks are the absolute ultimate in LL park making. We have the best 10 overall parkmakers working together on these, spread across two maps. While other collabo’s were sort of pushed to the side, and unimportant to parkmakers, we’re making this the ultimate collection of the parkmakers best work. There is one fantasy oriented Dreams map, and a slightly less crazy Nightmare map. X-Sector, Mantis, ToonTowner, Blitz-sama, and Evil WME working on the Dreams one, and OZONE, Natelox, Fatha’, Coaster Ed, and PyroPenguin on Nightmares.
Kumba: How is SLR going? Is it still RCT2?
Iris: SLR has just picked back up. It’s back to LL right now, and we really have some great ideas for the park. We will make sure to keep people updated soon.
Kumba: In your opinion, who would you say are the top ten parkmakers for RCT1 and also for RCT2 today?
Iris:
RCT1:
1. X-Sector-his latest stuff has been absolutely tremendous, not to mention he’s built my favorite 3 themed areas.
2. Coaster Ed-one of the most creative parkmakers ever, I’ve never been disappointed by his work.
3. Fatha’-Always will have a top 3 or 4 spot with me, he’s basically the perfect parkmaker.
4. RRP-Never finishes anything, but when he does, he’s golden
5. Mantis-Awesome fantasy parkmaker, great use of colors, and not afraid to try anything once.
6. PyroPenguin-Really been kinda inactive in LL lately, but really a flawless parkmaker
7. Natelox-His quality of work seems to be picking up more now then ever, and that’s scary.
8. Posix-The most versatile parkmaker, can make either fantasy or traditional parks.
9. OZONE-The next generation of NE superstar, one of the best up and comers easily.
10. ToonTowner-More known for RCT2 work, but still a very fun LL parkmaker as well.
RCT2:
1. Foozy-Everything he makes his perfect so far. RCT2 works for his style better then anybody.
2. ToonTowner-Him and Foozy are so far ahead of everyone else in my eyes.
3. Corkscrewed-Great RCT2 architect, and has shown nothing but positive things so far.
4. PyroPenguin-Very classy style, nobody conquered both games like Pyro.
5. SACoasterFreak-Also very classy, doesn’t over-theme, everything looks just right
6. Butterfinger-Got repetitive with Euroscape, but it is still one of the most impressive parks.
7. aero21-Winner of first RCT2 spotlight, and not by accident either. Great atmosphere.
8. Scarface-Awesome architect, possibly the best of all RCT2 parkmakers.
9. Meretrix-We’ve seen he can do Disney. Now let’s see him do something else.
10. John-An RCT2-ized second coming of Pyro, my gut tells me. My gut is always right.
